7 Superbly Productive Daily Morning Routines

Morning rituals

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? If checking your Instagram is your answer, read on.

When you are purposeful with your morning, you can really get a leg up on your competition. By setting a few morning routines in place that you complete every morning, you’ll automatically feel productive after you’ve accomplished them. This feeling will carry through the rest of your day, leading to more accomplishment during your waking hours.

If you currently don’t have any rituals in place, start with just one and add on from there. Here are seven daily morning routines that you’ll absolutely love:

Guided Morning Meditation

This is an obvious one. But we’ve included it because it’s tried and true. Prayer and mediation help you clean the slate and start fresh. If you’ve not meditated before, start with five minutes and then add a minute every morning thereafter until you hit a reasonable amount. The important thing is to be consistent. Here’s a great article from our friends at Men’s Journal: A Beginner’s Guide to Meditation

Make Your Bed

Even something as simple as making your bed can help put you in the right mood to conquer your day.

“If you make your bed every morning you will have accomplished the first task of the day.  It will give you a small sense of pride and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another.” Admiral William H. McRaven

What the entire commencement speech here:

Drink Water

When you sleep for seven hours, you get dehydrated. Drinking a large glass of water first thing in the morning will rehydrate your body. And as your brain is 75% water, this morning ritual will quickly get your mind working at full speed.

Wake Up Early

This is especially true for those who don’t consider themselves morning people. Dusk is a time of peace and preparation…take advantage of that. There’s truth behind the saying “the early bird gets the worm.”

Exercise

Even if it’s as simple as taking the dog for a walk around the block, exercising is one of the best ways to start your morning. It gets your blood flowing and your mind right. If you can make it to the gym, that’ll put you lightyears ahead of your competition. You’ll feel the endorphins for hours.

Eat Breakfast

They say the most important meal of the day is breakfast. Food is fuel for your body, so starting the day on empty can’t be good. Oatmeal, fruit, and whey protein shakes (read: balanced meals) are the real breakfast of champions. Sugar cereals doesn’t count.

NEVER Hit The Snooze Button

If you have a hard time finding the energy to wake up in the morning, and often hit the snooze button, go to bed earlier. This is a HUGE deal. “I don’t feel like it” never owned a Rolls-Royce.
